A Letter from the Dean of Career Services Winter 2014
Dear Parents & Guardians:
While I have been writing to you at the beginning of each term and have had the pleasure of meeting some of you when you visit campus, the members of the Career Services team wanted to introduce themselves as well. Thanks to the expertise of our Technical Director, Kevin Summers, from the Film Studies Program, we are pleased to share this short video introduction with you.
Recognizing that each of our students is unique and has a number of varied interests, we strive to offer an array of opportunities for the students to explore Life After Lawrence NOW. Please see the Career Services Winter Term 2014 booklet. In addition, you may be interested to see the Career Services Newsletter (located just below the Life After Lawrence NOW picture) which students receive bi-weekly. Some highlights include:
• Seniors: Support, Strategies and Success (S4) – weekly ½ hour sessions which provide seniors the tools to promote their skills, create quality application materials and build a personal brand.
• Internships 102 – a new program which focuses on “major” specific resources, applying to internships and interviewing skills.
• Lawrence Scholars Day – Saturday, Feb. 1. We will be hosting group and 1:1 sessions for students to meet with alumni in Financial Services and in Arts & Entertainment.
Good news! If your junior (or rising junior) or senior student has demonstrated financial need after completing the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), he or she may be eligible for internship funding through the Great Lakes Career Ready Initiative Grant we are administering. If this may apply to your student, please encourage him or her to email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Please take a moment to listen to our video, review the links and encourage your son or daughter to visit us. We look forward to helping your student discover his or her Life After Lawrence NOW, regardless of how defined his or her interests are at this time!
All the best,
