The office of the Dean of Student Academic Services provides assistance and support to students in a number of ways. Members of the staff provide academic counseling, writing and other academic skills development, and services for students with disabilities.
In addition, the office supplements faculty advising by providing information about academic standing, academic credits, transfer credits, leaving the university, variations from traditional courses of study, and academic progress. Students should consult with their academic advisor as a primary source of information and contact Student Academic Services for further information and advice. The Dean of Student Academic Services also serves as advisor to the Honor Council and can answer questions about the honor system.
The Student Academic Services office also supervises the Center for Teaching and Learning, which provides tutoring in the following areas: writing, communications, and quantitative skills. Help is also available in the form of study skills counseling and content tutoring.
