CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates is Kappa Alpha Theta's national philanthropy. CASA positively impacts the lives of abused and neglected foster children in our community by providing trained advocates who speak on behalf of the children in court. What Does Theta do for CASA?
Last winter, Kappa Alpha Theta organizes the Perfect Cheer. The Perfect Cheer gives campus organizations a chance to compete against one another and be judged by a panel of Lawrence faculty and staff. The Perfect Cheer is based off of the Saturday Night Live skit involving the Spartan Cheerleaders. Each organization is encouraged to make a team to perform "the perfect cheer".
In the spring, Theta hosts a kickball tournament called "Kicks for CASA", which is held in the fraternity quad in between Downer and Sage Hall. This is our most popular and successful event. Student organizations are encouraged to form kickball teams and compete for prizes such as Buffalo Wild Wings gift certificates. Last spring we raised over 70% more than any previous year.
In fall of 2007, we experienced our first Theta Powderpuff Football event. Teams were formed to compete once again for prizes varying from free pizzas to certificates and gifts from various Appleton businesses.
Thank you to all who support our philanthropy events!
