Addressed debt cancellation for developing countries.
Results:
80 signatures
ONE Campaign
Tabled for the ONE Campaign at the Alternative Giving Fair. Asked event attendees to sign the ONE Declaration and gave out ONE bracelets
Results:
About 100 petitions signed, 130 ONE bracelets dispersed
Awareness Events:
NSCAHH Conference in Madison
Five SWAHP members attended the National Conference on Hunger and Homelessness.
TERM II
Education Events:
Kids Give Community Outreach Program
SWAHP members led discussions with students at Wilson Middle School about Sierra Leone, fundraising, and goal-setting. The school than participated in a fundraiser to raise school supplies and money for school scholarships to give to the children of Sierra Leone
Results:
Over $2,300 and 40 pencil case pouches for the children of Sierra Leone
Awareness Events:
Voting on Poverty Issues!
Displayed posters describing the 2008 Presidential Candidates positions' on poverty-related issues.
TERM III
Awareness Events:
Ah-ha Week
SWAHP made a poster displaying how often children die from hunger-related issues.
Service Events:
Milwaukee Visibility Campaign
Students went on a service trip to Milwaukee to learn about the hunger and poverty issues in the area.
Volunteered sites included:
-Repairers of the Breech (cleaned out the upstairs in preparation for a women's shelter)
-Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive (helped organize and collect donations at the local post offices)
Results:
About 10 students attended
