Oxfam America and ONE Campaign
Tabled for the Big Noise and the ONE Declaration petitions and gave out ONE bracelets

About 170 petitions signed, 100 ONE bracelets dispersed
Fundraising Events:
Trick or Canning
Worked with Lambda Sigma and Circle K to collect non-perishables by going door to door for donations on Halloween.
Results:
Collected a grocery cart full of goods for Salvation Army
Awareness Events:
NSCAHH Conference in Los Angeles
Two SWAHP members attended the National Conference on Hunger and Homelessness. The members also led a session on creating your own program, based on the educational component of our Feinstein Challenge.
TERM II
Advocacy Events:
Petition: To extend FEMA relief and funding to New Orleans for one more year
Had a Dorm storm to gather signatures
Results:
150 signatures
Awareness Events:
Water Born Diseases Campaign
Passed out straws with facts about water-born diseases at Downer and posted signs in bathrooms about guinea worm disease
Poverty Simulation
Two SWAHP members participated in a poverty simulation put on by Goodwill Industries
Service Events:
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Five SWAHP members volunteered at the Multicultural Center
TERM III
Awareness Events:
Ah-ha Week
SWAHP sent a " homeless Manikin" around campus with a different story each dayProgressive Week
Civil Human Rights Day (hung up “Do you have a right?” signs around campus)
Progressa-Palooza Day (Petition for Farm Bill and Emergency Shelter represented)
Service Events:
Minneapolis Visibility Campaign
Students went on a Service trip to Chicago to learn about the hunger and poverty issues in the area.
Volunteered sites included:
-Salvation Army (serving lunch, organizing Hallmark closet)
-Cornerstone Café (soup kitchen and housing facility)
-Sarah’s Circle (women’s shelter)
-Café Too (restaurant/job placement program)
-Caring Closet (second-hand clothes)
-Second Harvest Heartland (packaging food boxes)
-The Bridge (cleaned kitchen and living areas)
-Dakota Woodlands (made lunch)
Results:
About 15 students attended
Fundraising Events:
Shack-a-Thon
SWAHP members teamed up with Circle K Amnesty International to build a shack from scrap materials on Main Hall Green
Results:
Raised over $25.00 for local Habitat for Humanity Chapter
Sierra Leone Child Scholarship Fund
SWAHP began a partnership with children in Sierra Leone through Lawrence University's Profesor of Government, Claudena Skran. There was an event at Harmony Cafe that included a showing of the Invisivble Children documentary and a talk given by Professor Skran about child-soldiers in Africa.
Results:
Sold over 200 cards with pictures of children from Sierra Leone, and raised over $1000 from sales and general donations to the Child Scholarship Fund.
