National Mission Statement: Lambda Sigma Society, a national honor society for second year students, is dedicated to the purpose of fostering leadership, scholarship, fellowship and service among its members as they promote the interests of the colleges and universities they represent

Chapter Purpose: The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the scholarship and leadership of sophomore students and to provide fellowship and support for its members. It shall also provide an opportunity for those leaders to serve the campus and the community, especially aiding in the transition of the freshman class.

Committee Reports

Fundraising (David Scott & Ed Maxwell)

The fundraising committee has scheduled three fundraisers for the term, and we are looking at the possibility of a third. The three we have scheduled are two pizza sales and cleaning up trash at Celebrate as we did last year. The pizza sales will be Sunday, April 16, and Sunday, May 21. We will be sending around a sign-up sheet for the first pizza sale tonight. We hope to have the freshmen help with the second one, so we are not signing up for that yet. The freshmen will also help with Celebrate, which is Saturday, May 13. More details on that to come.

Service (Megan Comer)

Service Opportunities:

Boys and Girls Club Talent Show. Thursday, April 13th. Leave LU at 5:00pm (meet at Wriston turn-around) and return by 8:15pm. We would be taking a LU van. We would be doing things like setting up, being judges for the talent show part of it, taking pictures, helping with the music, helping the acts get ready, etc. There will be snacks and soda for us, but no dinner.
Volunteers are needed to lead groups of about ten 5th or 6th grade children around campus. The tours would consist of showing children buildings such as the Union, the Chapel, Downer, the library, the rec center, an academic building, and a residence hall, and sharing with them what it's like to live and learn at a university. Tour guides are needed from 1:30-2:00pm on any one of the following dates: Mon, April 17th, Fri, April 28th, and Fri, May 19th. If interested in either of the two above opportunities call Megan Comer and the VCSC x6644.
Sign up for faculty babysitting for Friday, April 14th, 3:45-6:00 at the rec center.
Working on a group service project with a local nature preserve or the Arboretum. I will let you know what I find out.
