LAMBDA SIGMA ALPHA PI CHAPTER
REPORT SHEET for FEBRUARY 27, 2000

National Mission Statement: Lambda Sigma Society, a national honor society for second year students, is dedicated to the purpose of fostering leadership, scholarship, fellowship and service among its members as they promote the interests of the colleges and universities they represent

Chapter Purpose: The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the scholarship and leadership of sophomore students and to provide fellowship and support for its members. It shall also provide an opportunity for those leaders to serve the campus and the community, especially aiding in the transition of the freshman class.

Officer Reports

President's Report (Michelle Ansay)

Andrea Powers from the Alumni development office is interested in sponsoring a sophomore class party on Fri, Apr 7th. It would start at 10pm and would take place in the Viking Room. They're hoping to get a live band (the Committee), have dart/ pool tournaments, food, and door prizes. She's looking for help from Lambda Sigma for promotion of this event. Also, she is looking for volunteers to help in planning the theme and/ or decorating for it. You may want to circulate a sign up sheet - it won't take up much time; she'll contact the volunteers and try to work out a few meeting times with the other interested sophomores. Or if you want to discuss ideas at the improvement committee meeting, that's fine, too.

Treasurer's Report (David Scott)

We have the same amount of money we did last week [$1333.83], plus whatever proceeds we get from the pizza sale this week. We have a good deal of money, so if there's anything we want to spend money on (i.e. social events, supplies), we shouldn't hesitate. I have two recommendations. The first is that we buy coolers for the pizza sales because this will save us money in the long run. The second is that on behalf of the Alton St. Staff, I would like to challenge Lambda Sigma to a pancake eating on contest at Julie's Breakfast Club next weekend.

Fundraising

We had a pizza sale tonight, and we'll have another the Sunday after tenth week. Next term, we are planning on doing two pizza sales and Celebrate cleanup. We don't think addition fundraising is neccesary because of the high balance in our account. Next year's group will be able to help with Celebrate and maybe one of the pizza sales.

Service (Megan Comer)

Relay for Life was a success, thanks to all those whole helped out. If you are in need of more service hours call the volunteer center at x6644.
