New Student Week
-discussed whether we should do projects in small groups or in
one large
one-decided one large group would be more efficient and fun
-decided to start on projects early in the week (we will meet to
further plan
the activities after we arrive in the fall)
-projects will include: stuffing envelopes, helping with the
dinner on Friday
-play (will not be as controversial as the one we watched)
-if you want to act in it talk to David Frye (there will be a
couple of
rehearsals probably on Wednesday or Thursday of New Student Week)
-there will probably be an identity forum instead of the ³card
party²
-there will be more receptions for the new students to make the
week more
entertaining
-suggestions made at the meeting:
-more publicity for ³Into the Streets²
-better inform the Freshmen athletes
about the activities going on
-if you have any suggestions or comments for New Student Week,
e-mail David
Frye
We will wait until next fall to vote on the advisors. Talk
to faculty and
staff that you would like to nominate for this position.
Co-chairs should talk to each other and decide who will attend
the Improvement
Meetings. We discussed the possibility on having one
representative from each
committee attend the meetings. The representative should be
the same person
each time.
We will choose members for each of the committees next year.
The Bjorklunden trip will be on one of the first weekends in
October.
We need to decide on an attendance policy. Last year, the
group allowed one
unexcused absence. Subsequent absences resulted in an
additional hour of
service.
We need people to help with faculty babysitting this Friday from
4:30-6:30PM
at the Rec Center. Let Megan Comer know if you can help.
T-shirts
-We decided on white T-shirts. The front will have a small
logo that Krista
designed, and our first name will be under it. The back
will have a list of
all of the members. Talk to Krista if you want to see the
design.
Suggestions for activities for next year included:
-paint balls
-rock climbing
-eating a lot of ice-cream at Baskin Robins
Suggestions for Lambda Sigma activities during New Student Week
included:
-picnic at High Cliff
-going to a pool
-capture the flag
-scavenger hunt
The Lambda Sigma web site is done- check it out!
The Social Committee would like to wish everyone GOOD LUCK on
finals!
Just a reminder that we need as many certified van drivers as
possible, so get
certified if you can.
Have a great summer!!
