Lambda Sigma Minutes- November
7th
1. Service Hours: You need 30 service hours for the year.
15/30 service hours has to be with Lambda Sigma. You need to have 7
hours completed (either with or without lambda sigma) by the end of
this term. If you serve over Christmas break, it counts for next
term. Sam showed us how many hours we currently have.
2. We
played the game where Schuyler draws two names. Peter and Joy were
picked.
Peter- Peter’s favorite part of college is talking
about urban planning with people (that never happened in high
school). He’s an intellectual kind of guy. Also, if Peter could
meet any person dead or alive, he’d meet his half brother, who
currently he hasn't met. This half brother is a good guy.
Joy-
When Joy was a little girl she wanted to be a marine biologist. Her
favorite expression to say (this one is tricky!) is “the moral
of the story is…” and THEN instead of saying what the
moral of the story ACTUALLY is, Joy says something that is actually
not the moral of the story, if there was a story to begin with.
Crazy.
3. PAC street team! Do you want to do it!??! Hand out
fliers for the PAC. It’s crazy fun, I hear. You can do it when
you want, whatever time you want, how you want. We signed our names
on a sheet if we were interested in doing this service. They want it
done the week of the 14th. If you signed up, Jena will give you more
information.
4. Natasha talked about t-shirts. Remember,
they’re $8.75 per person for one t-shirt. Lambda Sigma is
covering the $75 fee. Deadline for the money is officially on
November 21st. But if you want to pay earlier, you can drop it off
with our friend and excellent advisor LINDA at the Raymond house, or
bring it to the next meeting. Cash is accepted, and if you want to
pay by check you should make your check out to Lawrence University
(because then we’ll write one big check to the t-shirt men and
ladies).
5. Bjork: Bring your favorite movie! Bring a board
game if you want. Andy may steal some from Plantz! Crazy knitting RLA
(PS- he’s really good at knitting, I was watching for most of
the meeting… not to be creepy or anything, but it’s
impressive, such talent!) Also, the bus leaves promptly at 6, so you
should meet in the Wriston turnaround at 5:45pm.
6. Service
Committee: we discussed the box we’re going to put in the
union. We need a permanent box. But not one too big (it’ll be
too heavy to carry), we are thinking making it from wood. We may make
it at Bjork if we can find a way to get it back. Also, we want to
decorate the box. Paint, glitter? Do we need wheels? Will we decorate
the box at bjork this weekend too? Do we want 3 smaller containers or
one big container? So many questions! We need your input. E-mail
Jena, Dabney, or Candice if you have ideas or answers to these
pressing questions!
7. For National Hunger and Homelessness
Awareness Week (November 13-19th) SWAHP is having a service day on
November 17th (Thursday). People will be going to volunteer sorting
food at St Joe’s and Salvation Army. Preparing and Serving
lunch at the Salvation Army will also be an option. These activities
will take place in the morning to afternoon. Keep your calendars
clear to get some service hours and better our community by helping
those in need!
8. Samantha Rose Gibb forgot the
Lamb!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it’s okay. Nicki (sp?) Dabney was awarded
the lamb. She has been doing a fabulous job with all her service
activities. She’s called a lot of places and organized some
events etc. AMAZING member. Good job!!!! Way to be a good
lamb.
Excused absence: Caitlin G.
Counted absences: Alison
B. and Asher P.
We’re probably pretty much the coolest
people in the whole world.
