Minutes- January 30th
1. Street team!
-We signed up on the sheet that was passed around. Jena will e-mail you with details before it happens though. They are going this Thursday and Friday.
2. T-shirts should be coming in tomorrow! So we will have them by next meeting. We’re all PUMPED. Sweeeeeeet t-shirts. If you do not but one thing: wear them with pride.
3. Ideas from the lovely ladies on the service committee:
A. Big idea for this term was to make Valentine’s Day cards and get candy for either the Pioneer Village or the troops. More people seemed to like the idea of sending them to the troops. We were also thinking of tabling at the Grill and having people donate a dollar and then we’ll use that money to buy candy. More info to come.
B. Host a “Mom’s Day Out” sometime around Mother’s day. On a Saturday Mom’s could drop off their kids for a couple of hours at our rec center. We would then baby sit the kids while their Mom’s went out to do what she needed to do! And get things done! I know my Mom would like it. Oh, Kathy Berkvam.
C. Earth day!- we were thinking of going to elementary schools and planting trees, or maybe do a street cleanup, or a highway clean up. The high way is probably dirty after the winter. I hope you don’t throw things out your window! And I hope that you recycle. Anyways, doing that would help the earth and the community. All the service committee’s ideas seemed very well-received. What fantastic service leaders.
*Keep in mind you can always volunteer for Lawrence’s Garden. E-mail Jena for more info.
4. Asher was not at the meeting so we couldn’t talk about changing our definition of service. He will be here next meeting (I think) so we’ll probably have our little voting/discussion then.
5. E-mail Schuyler with days that you are available to do a social activity with other sweeeeet lambs.
6. ABC phone-a-thon. Next Tuesday from 6-8pm and then that following Saturday from 10am-3pm (anytime you’re available). Transportation will be provided. Linda “Cool-cat” Fuerst will send us another e-mail with more information.
7. Wal-Mart responded to our letters from the fundraising committee. They are thinking about donating money to us when we have our clothing drive. How exciting. What a good day.
8. Our lamb is officially lost. Where is she? That we may not ever know. Is she baaaing in Hiett? Is she roaming in green pastures? Is she donating her coat for poor families in the area? (She was a generous lamb)… Is she out making little lambs? No one knows. It’s a sad time for all. But Jena assures out that she is out having adventures. She’s been good to us. On a happier note, Jena will get a new lamb by next meeting. The next lamb will have a lot to live up to. That’s for darn sure.
Alright, that’s it!
