Lambda Sigma Minutes- February 27th, 2006
1. Scholarship Nominees:
Some people declined the scholarship so we voted between:
Jenny Bergs
Liz Corey
Nicki Dabney
Caitlin Gallogly
Candice Gangl
Schuyler Gardner
Samantha Gibb
Natasha Quesnell-Theno
We just circled the name on the paper who we wanted to apply for this scholarship. Jena will let us know who we selected to apply.
2. Service Committee
A. We are still waiting to hear from Bulbolz
B. Need Volunteer hours? You can 1. Go to high cliff from 8-2:30 on Wednesday to help with a snow-shoe demonstration. People will be going in two hour shifts. Or you can 2. go to Valley Reads Leopold on Saturday and read from the Sand County Almanac- also in 2 hour shifts. These do not count as Lambda Sigma service hours. Contact the volunteer center to help!
C. Nicki was thinking we could go to elementary schools s part of an on-going Lambda Sigma service projects. We could have a couple people do it everyone week. We all seemed interested. More to come…
3. Pizza sale!!
-We will be selling pizza in the dorms once a week. The first week the fundraising committee will do it. But then in the next weeks they’ll need other people to walk around and sell the pizza. The fundraising committee will pass around a sign-up sheet next week.
4. SWAHP contacted Lambda Sigma because they are having Lawrence take part in a National challenge. SWAHP is teaming up with elementary school children and organizing a food-drive for their elementary school. Also, at Lawrence, SWAHP is having a competition between the clubs. Whichever club brings the most canned goods to their meeting, or drops them off at the front desk, will win a pizza party at one of their meetings. We decided to participate. This starts after spring break. Hopefully we’ll pick a meeting that we can all bring canned goods to. More to come…
5. Executive board meeting. No one e-mailed Jena times they were available. So she’s just going to pick a time and hopefully everyone on the executive board will be able to be there.
6. Schuyler is planning a social event for March 12th. It will be a pizza party and games. We are inviting prospective Lambda Sigma members to come. They can talk to us about Lambda Sigma and get to know us. Since this is close to finals we decided to have it somewhere in the union because it’s close to the library and maybe more people would be able to make it then. This might be Mandatory. This week Caitlin will reserve a room in the Union for that date.
7. People are wearing their Lambda Sigma t-shirts tomorrow, and so can you!!
Unexcused: Andy Olson.
Seeeeee yaaaaa!
