Lambda Sigma Meeting
May 24th 2004
Meeting started at 8:01 p.m (I think that was my fault sorry)
*F.Y.I- at the honors convo tomorrow you may wear whatever you would like! –Well you know what I mean by that.
*Emily handed out forms for your preferences of committees to be on. If you need to know more about each of them just follow Linda’s advice: “Read the e-mail.” Otherwise you can visit her at Raymond house and bombard her with questions. For all those who missed the meeting today, I’ve attached the sheet we filled out, so if you could fill it out and send it to Emily A.S.A.P that would be super!
We are planning a trip up to Bjorklunden next fall, and it will ideally occur over reading period weekend. We hope to make this mandatory, so mark your calendars now (and if you’re like me and don’t think that far ahead… just put it in your “thinker” as Dunbar calls it).
We want t-shirts!!! Hopefully the publicity chair will take care of that. I hear Mandy is a great artist!
We briefly brought up service hours and threw out some past “service hour” requirements. Those being 27/30 hours. We’ll make our life easy and leave that up to the service committee chair…Kelsey be ready!
Emily had a great idea to get our name out next year to incoming freshmen! What better than a freshman gathering sponsored by us! Any ideas for what we could do? Send e-mails to Barlowe@lawrence.edu. (That’s Emily’s email address)
Volunteering for the Fox City Marathon sounds like a go, Emily will email her connection for that event and hopefully it will be on the agenda for next year. F.Y.I.- it’ll take place September 25-26th. (I hear they give out free t-shirts to workers as well… at least they do for the Chicago marathon)
A majority of our time was spent electing committee chairs, and after some tedious discussion or none-at-all we have made our decisions! Congratulations everyone!
Fundraising: Danielle Jordan (unanimous decision)
Service: Kelsey Lutz (also unanimous)
Publicity: Mandy Burgess
Selection: Jake Rodgers
Social: Michelle Barthel
Standards: Bethloy Daley
Historian: Claire Weiss (again unamimous)
Our sophomore (soon-to-be junior) friends need help selling Krispy Cremes! As of right now they/we have sold a whopping 0 donuts. 50 dozen are needed by Friday. For all you ambitious members Linda suggested hitting places such as Brokaw, the health center, and the faculty. After all they have the money. (Maybe you can hit up security while you’re at it… stereotypically donuts are their favorite!)
This is our last meeting of the year. Therefore, all other communication will be done through e-mail.
Here is my record of those who were not in attendance. If I am wrong please let me know, and if you are on this list remember to fill out the attached committee form! Thanks all!
