Lambda Sigma Meeting Minutes for November 26, 2001
Excused: Sarah Mortenson
Unexcused: Amy Farrar, Elizabeth Florek, Kit Okimoto, Chris Swade
DON’T FORGET ABOUT YOUR SERVICE HOURS!
Making the candy canes during the meeting counts toward service hours, and so will Christmas Caroling next Monday.
Also a group from Lambda Sigma is going to Bubolz on Saturday, Dec. 8, sometime in the morning. There is still room in the van, so let Amy Briggs know if you would like to come along. This also counts toward service hours.
During the meeting, we had a discussion on what counts toward service hours. All service hours must be done during the term. Doing service during trimester breaks does not count toward service hours.
Secret Lambs – Everyone gets a name of someone in Lambda Sigma…and they should give them a small gift (no more than $2) by Dec. 10. If you were not at the meeting, please contact Wenjie to find out who your lamb is.
Christmas Caroling - We will not have a meeting on Monday, Dec. 3. Instead we will Christmas Carol around local neighborhoods and ask for donations of canned food that we will give to our adopted family. Mortar Board will also be joining us. We’ll have a drivers and a van to come around and pick up food. There will be two shifts, at 7 and 8 pm. Everyone should go to at least one of the shifts. (Remember, it counts toward service hours). We will me in front of Sage. If you are unable to attend the Christmas Caroling, please let me know, because I will be taking attendance.
Bowling – Saturday, Dec. 1. Meet in Sage at 8:30 pm. Paul Shrode is paying for the bowling, so it’s free!! If you are planning to come, please let Wenjie know so that we know how many people to expect.
Spring Break – Kwame and KT brought up ideas for a trip. We can basically go anywhere that is within driving distance. Many state parks would allow us to camp for free if we volunteer our help. Some people felt that they would like to have more particularized options before voting on whether or not to have a spring break trip. We decided that we would like Kwame and KT to come up with 2 or 3 possible trips that we could take. After we see the options at the beginning of second term, we will vote on whether we would like to have a spring break trip or have smaller trips and activities throughout the term.
Candy Canes - During the meeting we stapled “Lick those finals” notes onto the candy canes. We then distributed them to people for each dorm. The candy canes will be put in dorm mailboxes on the night of Dec. 5.
The next meeting will be on January 7 at 8 pm in Sage. Have a wonderful rest of the term and good luck on your finals!!
Respectively,
Krissa Matthews
