Lambda Sigma Meeting Minutes

April 8, 2002

Wenjie signed us up for clean-up at Celebrate.

Fundraising:  We are going to sell Krispy Kreme donuts again this term.

We don't have much money, and we will spend much of it on initiation,

dues, honor cords for seniors, etc.  We would also like to be able to

have a social activity this term.  Therefore, we need to raise more

money!

Wenjie brought up to the group that there is a member that has had poor

attendance to the meetings and has not fulfilled service hours for the

past two terms.  Because of the effort other members put into the group,

we decided that this person should be excluded.

The after school program starts next week!  If you signed up to come in

the next two weeks, but have a conflict, please contact Courtney so that

she may find a replacement.  For the after school program, two lambda

sigma people will go to each of the two elementary schools to pick up

kids and bring them to the church.  We will have activities there and

the parents will pick up their children at the end.  Also, please fill

out your criminal record forms and get them to Courtney ASAP.

Lambda Sigma applicants/Initiation  - We have a very small pool of

applicants so far (about 26 or 27).  We usually try to accept around 30

people, but this may have to be lowered this year due to the decline.

Acceptance/rejection letters will go out on May 19 and initiation will

be Friday, May 26 at Lucinda's.  There will be a photo taken on the day

of initiation at 8 pm.  During the meeting, we brainstormed some ideas

of what we would like for initiation:

- Cake and Ice Cream.  Possibly a sundae buffet.

- Big lambs will pick up the little lambs and bring them to initiation.

People will be able to put in special requests for who they would like

their little lamb to be.  Big lambs will again give a quote to their

little lamb.

- Linda and Wenjie will both speak.  Alison will talk about the history

of LS, and Becky will read the stats of the incoming group.

- There will still be candles.

- Yellow roses, carnations, or dandelions….

- Music.  Erin Karner was nominated to play the piano and Sarah said

that her brass quintet (which also includes Brent and Stacy) could

possibly play at initiation.
