Minuti da Greenfire per il 30 Ottobre 2003.

(As my e-mails tend to be a little lengthy, here i san extremely brief outline followed by the real thing)

-speaker Laura England from WI Conservation Power Project

-Appleton conservation team meeting on Monday, 7pm at the Appleton library.

-we should write letters as action

-clean plate club week is week of 17 nov., clean plate day Thursday (20 nov.)

-call amy at x7098 if you want to go to a meeting about fair trade coffee at the union.

-no real meeting next week. Just perhaps a get-together??

*We had speaker Laura England from the WI Conservation Power Project come speak. She mentioned Conservation Team Networks in place across the state. These are teams of activists in every legislative district that write letters to their reps to show an active constituency. *Perfect timing because there is the first Appleton meeting on Monday, 3 November at 7pm in the Appleton library (shall we get people to go together and meet somewhere??). Meetings should not be too frequent and people will most likely keep in touch by e-mail.

*This brings up a good point about possibly ‘team-building’ activities which could be something like letter writing. Ben also had an AMAZING idea about getting together with Amnesty, GLOW, and SLA, each group researching an issue and writing one letter about it to send to a representative, president etc. We would all get together one day and hand write four different letters and send them all. How very effective!!

*Should we ask Downer to give extra food to a pig farm (or something of the like) Not a bad idea.

*Tabling for Clean Plate Club will take place mon.-thurs., 17-20 November. Thursday will be the culminating day for activities. I will send an e-mail later reminding you of your tabling times if you took one. We will go through last year’s pledges and emphasize the energy waste that wasting food creates, not the mere fact of wasting food.

*Amy, Pete Snyder and Megan Syverson met with Jill Brickman, the union retails manager talking about fair trade coffee and will be getting together on Sunday again. If you want information, contact Amy (x7098).

*Plus, if you bring your own mug to the coffeehouse/grill, you will get ten cents off your beverage purchase.

*little things: keep an eye on the battery cans (contact Matt with questions linealm@lawrence.edu) and put up your recycle boxes.

***Next week we will have a party-meeting, most likely at the co-op. More info to come!

Keep in touch and sooo sorry this was sooo long!!

Love
