Salutations Greenfire,

Events:
ACE Day – Saturday – 8:30 AM to 12 - Building an eagle flight & doing work at a nearby awesome state park.
1 PM to 4 PM – Fox River cleanup & lit. drop downtown.  I know the lit. drop could use a few more people, if you’re interested in doing anything email Brian {}.  Meet in Riverview before departing for these events, unless Brian instructs otherwise.

Fahrenheit 9/11 – Saturday 2:30 PM and 5 PM – SLA is showing Micheal Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11, so if all you crazy liberals haven’t already lined Mike’s pockets with your green or if you fell asleep during the movie (like me), go see it!

League of Conservation Voters Saturday 9-12 - Lit. drop in Green Bay on mercury, senatorial elections, etc.

Monday 3 PM – Opportunity to meet with state Rep. Kaufert at the Season’s Restaurant in Neenah (on S. Commercial Drive) – Come to talk to him about environmental issues.

-Press conference in Lutz Park – expect more info when available.

Email Beth () for anything about LCS events.

Possible speakers – Do we want to have Danny Catz (smart organizational speaker guy who spoke at Bjorklunden last year) speak again about developing a strong organizational system.  We could make this a Bjorklunden thing, or it could be a night or weekend.  Maybe we want another speaker entirely.  Come with ideas, or at least develop strong uninformed opinions, then Noah will massively inform next week.

Initiatives:

One Minute Left – The first issue is coming out this Monday!  There is so much viable material for articles, so if you can find a couple hours to write an article on any issue you want to cover that would be great.  Articles can be a few hundred or up to 2000 words.  The next deadline is on Tuesday, that’s soon, but the weekend provides a lot of time.  If you can’t make that deadline, write an article whenever you have time, and, as always, mail it to {}.  Direct queries to Ben (SLA’s pres.) }.

Little Something Green (LSG) – Signs should be completed by Sunday night.  They will be ready for pickup and posting & will be all separated out by location.  They will be on top of our mail boxes in Greenfire house (in our front room).  We are using a special type of tape, and this is will be provided.  Dorm crews are already assigned and they will be posting, so expect a follow up email you people.  We could still use help posting these signs in educational buildings and in Downer, so extra volunteers would be much appreciated, or if you want to be added to a dorm crew that could work out too, just email me (Matt:  ). Please only take signs if you’re on a dorm crew or have talked to me first, and if you are actually going to hang them up.

If something annoys you and you want to prevent it with myriad small green signs, please email me immediately with your LSG idea.  Look at the full list online at .

Composting – Were still looking around at grants and funding.  Liz decided the EPA might be the best site for federal grants.  Other people are in the info requesting and gathering phase.  Try to devote a lil’ time this weekend to looking up more funding opportunities and then contact the organization to get info.  Even if you don’t want to fill out forms, you don’t have to, just request info.

EMS – Noah talked to Jill Beck – all lights are green.

Election Day – Nov. 2: At Bjorklunden it was decided that the best way groups could work together for the election is to go around and knock on people’s doors to get out the vote.  We are covering all of campus, and will compile a pamphlet comparing issues between candidates.  Different groups will focus on their salient issue – Greenfire - Environment, GLOW - GLBT issues, SLA - health care, and DFC – Women’s issues.  We’ll be organizing for this closer to Nov. 2.

Printer Issues – Beth is on the case of getting these printers to print double-sided, or at all.

Batteries – I collected all the batteries around campus, and now they sit in our basement.  If anywhere needs a battery can, tell me or make one, but we should be set.
