Heyo Greenfire,

For all our hard work we received the Outstanding Organization Award!  Good work people!

The second victory to announce is that there will be a [rockin] Greenfire house in Sabin next year.  Sweetness.

There are important decisions and projects to accomplish before the end of the term:

First, we talked about Shack-a-thon, which is occurring this Saturday.  Meet at around 10 AM (pending hangovers) at the Co-op.  The shack is built in the morning and during the day, and at night it will be slept in.  The shack will be dismantled Sunday morning.

The event raises money for Habitat for Humanity.  The minimum entry amount is $180, so we need to raise some dolla’s.  To raise money we are selling notebooks that we made, if you wish to buy notebooks either for personal use or resale, email Steve (rognesss@lawrence.edu).  Also, hit up your folks for money, or donate your own scratch.  You should try to raise at least 10 dollars (per person), or the equivalent of selling 5 notebooks or notepads (3 and 2 dollars respectively).

Second, we covered EMS briefly.  The project is moving forwards, and will continue to progress.

Third, we talked about new student week materials.  This needs to get worked on and finalized so we can have lots of members again next year.  Jeremy, Christine, and Beth are currently enlisted for working on this project, but we need more help!  Come with ideas and willing to help so Greenfire can be bigger and better next year!

Work is focusing on producing not only paper materials to hand out and organizing a booth; we plan to produce day planners to hand out as well.  Bao said that he has immediate access to many thousands of sheets of one-side-printed-on pieces of paper.

Fourth, we talked about leadership and an organizational structure for next year.  At the most basic level, we need to choose a president, two co-presidents, a secretary, treasurer, and so on.  Also, if we want to institute any new organizational structures or positions, that is something that should be decided now.

We talked about the possibilities of having a group whip that motivates people to achieve their jobs.  Co-presidents would most likely function with the role of one being the organizer, and the other one dreaming up projects and working with people from this group and others.

Please come with ideas about this subject for next week.  Think about what might make it easier for you to accomplish stuff in this organization.

Lastly, we didn’t talk about it, but we are going to replenish the supply of Little Something Green signs that are hung up.  They will be great to have, especially for the incoming students.  A laminating session and distribution of signs for hanging will take place really soon, and I will send out a separate email when I know exactly when that is.  Email me if you’re interested (linealm@lawrence.edu).  It will only take about an hour or 90 minutes total.

That’s everything, I hope I see ya’ll at Shack-a-thon on Saturday
