Greenfire minutes 4 March
There WILL be a meeting on Thursday. If you can’t come, good luck on finals and have a great, safe break.
We will be tabling with letters to send to the legislature the first week of next term concerning the ground water protection act.
Everything has been approved for Earth Day. (climbing wall money, food stuff (kind of) etc.)
Shack-a-thon is next term, build houses on main hall for a habitat for humanity fundraiser. And what are other term III events?... Earth Day, organic farm visit, nature centers, dorm upkeep)
Saturday 17 April is a big Earth Day event in Green Bay. There will be a literature drop sponsored by League of Conservation Voters, get out the vote etc. The goal is to get 40,000 homes in one day, telling about the importance of the environment and which presidential candidate will improve our current situation. We need to find transportation. KRISTINE, STEVE and JEREMY will be looking into that to see what we should do. We will also be tabling.
William Kronin is the next convo speaker and he is a huge environmentalist. Yay for small victories.
We made a list…
*fox river clean up ‘boss’ for Earth Day needed, * LSG manager (MATT and EVAN), *general publicity, *popular politics (BEN), * researcher (BRENT[who should, as researcher, look into the repercussions of his sister not voting]), *OML/Lawrentian writer, *secretary for next term (MATT), *formal group earthy house (talk to Amy), *contacts for other groups (RACHEL?), *anyone interested in campaign stuff for Ralph Nader also talk to Amy, *webpage (BAO ROCKS), *facilitators/co-presidents for next term, * ‘welcome to campus’ stuff, for which we have $200, *finances and budget process, *admissions people (BETHANY and LAURA), * composting (NOAH et al), *fundraising, *student group forum for political dialogue (BRENT, PETER)
