Future Projects

Ideas ideas ideas. We've got too many of them. These are major undertakings that we have
planned for this year. If they are sucessful, well...we'll probably do 'em again and again
until they become a GreenFire tradition. ALL of them can be successful with your
interest and your time :) Feel free to email me (email at bottom of page)to suggest ideas or
email the GreenFire presidents Amy and Peter.
Environmental Management System: places where students can throw their used batteries. We will need to gather up the batteries and take them to the recycling center.
Composting: A ton of work has been done in the last decade or so, by various people (both students and staff), to try and get a composting program running at Lawrence. All efforts have so far run into serious obstacles and been dropped. However, we think we could make it happen if we put enough effort into it!
Speakers: We would like to have at least one major speaker per year. We could bring them for Earth Day, or another time, or both. We need people who are interested in identifying good speakers and helping to bring them to campus.
Green Building: With the construction of Hiett (which uses a lot of green architecture and building techniques), and the upcoming construction of the new Union, this is a critical time for us to lobby hard for as much green building on campus as possible. We did a lot of this in the last two years, but more is needed to ensure that the new Union will be an environmentally sound project.
