Organic/harvest dinner at Downer: Greenfire provides information on organic and local foods at this event (which is widely enjoyed by students), encouraging students to make organic/local foods a regular part of their diet I just wanted to mention that we bought 50 quality chicken from a local farmer. MMMhhhmmmm. It IS good!

Organic farm visit: This has been a regular kick-off event for Greenfire members in the fall. However, because All Campus Environmental Day (a volunteer center activity) is taking place so early this year, we may plan our farm visit for the spring. Also, there’s more to do on farms in the spring, so it would be more fun!

Clean Plate Club: Greenfire has students sign a statement promising to try and eliminate their food waste, since students waste about 300 lbs. of food daily (and that’s just at Downer… doesn’t count Lucinda’s). As part of this project, we also weigh the food waste each day for one week, and post the results.
