1) The Feminist Discussion on Body Image at last week's meeting was great.
Thanks to everyone who participated! I heard a lot of positive feedback from
people who attended.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
2) The next episode is airing Monday evening. We should watch it to figure out
who the sponsors are. If anyone's interested, we'll be watching at the Co-Op
(711 E. John St.). Call me if you want to come but don't know where it is. I
think it's at 7 or 8, but not sure on that. We looked at a draft of our letter.
We'll be tabling NEXT Tuesday and Wednesday during lunch and dinner. I'll send
another e-mail with a shift sign-up.

3) Next meeting: this Wednesday. We'll talk about Earth Day, The Swan, Take Back
the Night, etc. Some members voiced how much they appreciated the presence of
women AND men at the last few meetings. All you male feminists out there, how
about making it to this week's meeting? And, all you female feminists with male
feminist friends, how about encouraging them to attend this week's meeting?

4) Earth Day Announcement from Carrie Campbell
I'm writing to you on behalf of Greenfire and the Wisconsin Conservation Power
Project to tell you about an opportunity to get involved in the biggest Earth
Day activity that Wisconsin has ever seen. WCPP and Greenfire along with the
more than 50 other local and national organizations are using this Earth Day as
a way to educate 40,000 families state-wide.
Teams of Earth Day volunteers will go door-to-door passing out information that
describes recent rollbacks of environmental protections at the state and
national level. These flyers will give the reader an opportunity to take action
by sending postcards to Governor Doyle and President Bush, urging them to use
their leadership to protect Wisconsin’s environment.
I'm contacting you because I believe that the Downer Feminist Council plays an
intrinsic role in informing students on campus of important political and social
issues, and has continuously succeeded in mobilizing these students towards
grassroots political action. Also, the Downer Feminist Council has a fantastic
record of organizing events geared towards political and social education on
campus and within the Appleton community, and your perspective and support would
ensure a strong and successful campaign. I was wondering if you would be
interested in organizing teams of 4-5 people from DFC to distribute literature
during Lawrence’s Earth Day, May 1, 2004 at 2 p.m. You and your members would be
joining hundreds of volunteers across the state in taking part in the biggest
Earth Day event ever held in Wisconsin.
If interested please contact me at caroline.q.campbell@lawrence.edu or x7124.
Feel free to visit our website for more information: http://www.wisconsinearthday.com.
You can also access a copy of the literature on that website using the following
link: http://www.wisconsinearthday.org/EarthDayLiterature.pdf.
Thanks again for your consideration, and please don't hesitate to call if you
have any comments, questions, or suggestions!
Sincerely,
Carrie Campbell
