Supporting Crew

Rent-A-Rower

Each team member is required to pay dues to help cover the individual costs of rowing and attending competitions. One program designed to help rowers pay dues is Rent-A-Rower. We literally loan out a rower to do work for a donation, usually $10/hour. This allows individuals to fundraise for themselves. Some of the work that is done includes raking leaves, painting, moving equipment and other tasks prior to concerts in the Chapel, or anything else that comes up. RAR is coordinated by our Finance Chair, Kate Hatlak. In addition to RAR, the team also holds various other fundraisers (e.g. bake sales) on campus as money is needed throughout the year.

Donations

Through donations from parents and crew supporters, we have been able to save money to allow us to purchase new equipment. Some of the items we have recently purchased include:
Drakkar - Men's/Women's Open Weight 4 (Winter 2006)
New Oars and Oar Handles (Spring 2005)
Ric & Margot Warch - Women's 8 (Spring 2004)

Thanks to assistance from the Lawrence University Community Council (LUCC), we were also able to purchase the Espeseth McNiff, our women's lightweight boat in Fall 2006.

We greatly appreciate all the support we have been given, allowing us to keep our equipment updated and in good working condition. Because we have seen a steady increase in team size, future purchases will include new rowing machines, more cox boxes, and another launch, which serves as our coaching platform during practices. Questions concerning donations should be directed to our President, Nicholas Miller.
