Course:         3000 meter head race course on the fox river

Schedule is subject to small changes upon receiving all entries.

Launch times will be 30 minutes prior.

 

Entries:                    Entry deadline is October, 15th.  Scratches will be allowed, without penalty until October, 23rd.  We ask for you to get rough entries in ASAP so we can ensure a safe number of launches and personnel.

 

Seeding:                    Boats will be seeding in order based on results from the Tail of the Fox and Head of the Rock regattas. 

 

Entry fees:              Eights                        $40

                                    Fours             $30

 

Awards:                   Points trophies will be award for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for both men and women.  An overall Points trophy will also be awarded.  Medals will NOT be given out for individual races.

 

Points system:        Each event on the schedule will have points awarded.  Only "A" boats will be considered for points with the exception of the Varsity Women's 4+ "B" (since nearly all schools have been rowing 2 varsity women's 4+'s, we will run a "B" race as a separate race.)

 

Two points will be awarded for every boat you defeat.  A bonus point will be awarded to the event winner.

                                   

Examples: 

5 boat race - 1st = 9,  2nd = 6,  3rd = 4,  4th = 2,  5th = 0

                                    3 boat race      - 1st = 5,  2nd = 2,  3rd = 0

 

Launching:   1.  All participants must be ready to launch 45 minutes before their scheduled race time.  Launching will take place 30-45 minutes before race time.  The dockmaster will announce when to launch.

 

2.  Hot seating will be allowed, so long as it is not in back to back events.  NO PERSON OR EQUIPMENT WILL BE ALLOWED IN BACK TO BACK EVENTS.  All boats not hot seating will launch first.

 

3.  Each crew is allowed 2 minutes on the dock.

 

4.  No rigging or foot stretcher adjustments on the dock. 

 

Rowing to the start:    1.  You will have about 2500 meters to complete your warm-up. 

2.  When leaving the docks, continue on the right hand side of the river.

3.  ALL CREWS MUST REMAIN SINGLE FILE UNTIL THEY PAST THE SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT (pair of big domes).

                                             4.  When proceeding to the start line all crews must pass under the 441 bridge between the two marked pillars. 

 

Racing on the course:  1.  Keep the buoys on you port side.  Missed buoys will result in a 20 second penalty.

                                                2.  When racing under the 441 Bridge pass under the two marked pillars.

                                                3.  There will be no passing until clear of the 441 Bridge for Novice Crews.

                                                4.  Slower crews allow faster crews the faster course.

Finishing:    1.  Once you pass through the finish line continue on the paddle for at least 20 strokes before stopping.

 

2.  When proceeding to the dock, allow any hot seating boats priority on the docks.  Do not dock until you have been told by the dockmaster.
