Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble provides dedicated players the opportunity to prepare and perform challenging band literature. The ensemble is open by audition to students in grades 10-12. Wind Ensemble rehearses weekly and performs in November and March of each year. Auditions for Wind Ensemble are held in the spring for the following academic year.

Electronics Policy

Cell phones, iPods, electronic readers, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited during ensemble rehearsals and back stage during concerts.   If a family emergency takes place during a rehearsal or concert, please contact the ensemble manager.

Materials

  • Students will be given a folder with music that must be brought to every rehearsal. Students should also bring a pencil with them to rehearsal.
  • All folders and music are the property of the Lawrence Academy of Music and should be returned at the end of each semester or when the student leaves the ensemble.
  • Lost or damaged music will be billed the cost of the complete score. 
  • Trumpet and trombone players will need a straight mute
  • Percussionists will receive a list of suggested sticks and mallets

Concert Uniform

  • Students should wear all black or black bottoms and a white shirt; no jeans, tennis shoes or excessive jewelry.
  • If a student wishes to wear a tie, they must wear it with a collared white long-sleeved shirt. Students may also wear suits or black sport coats.
  • If a student wishes to wear a skirt or dress, it should be knee length or longer when seated and non-patterned.

The institution will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and DPI's Nondiscrimination Provision for all students.
