“Music is the art of thinking with sounds.”
—Jules Combarieu, music scholar
Research has shown that children of all ability levels benefit from the magic of making music. For children with special needs, being immersed in a music enrichment class is a joyful and transformational experience. Lawrence Academy of Music offers classes that provide children with special needs with an opportunity to participate in musical activities that focus on interaction and socialization skills, as well as fine and gross motor skills. Finger plays, songs, playing instruments and movement enhance your child’s development with special attention to individual needs.
Age-appropriate classes are taught by Sara Devine, a board-certified therapist with more than 10 years of experience in this field. These groups are designed to facilitate socialization and communication, motivate interaction, improve social skills and, most importantly, have fun through the use of different music techniques and activities.
