This eight-week class offers a unique opportunity to learn Ewe (“AY-way”) drumming and dancing. Luke Rivard, Lawrence Conservatory percussion student, will share what he has learned while studying in Ghana, West Africa. Dane Richeson, director of percussion studies in the Lawrence Conservatory of Music, will supervise the curriculum. This class, for youth in grades five through nine, gives students the opportunity to experience another culture's music-making.
