Joslyn Vandermause earned her Bachelor of Music in piano performance, with a piano pedagogy emphasis from Lawrence University Conservatory in 2002. During her college years, she studied under Mary Van De Loo, Catherine Kautsky, and Katherine Murray. She also tutored non-piano majors at the Conservatory in Basic Keyboarding Skills for 2 years. She attended the Young Artist Seminar at Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colorado for two summers during college. Studying with David Abbott and Beth Mueller-Grace, she was winner of the Rocky Ridge Concerto Competition in 2001. Upon graduation from Lawrence University, she completed a one-year teaching internship at Lawrence Academy of Music in Appleton during 2002-2003. In summer 2004, Joslyn served on staff at Rocky Ridge Music Center as Activities Coordinator and Head Counselor. She has been a member of MTNA, WMTA, and FVMTA since 2001, and enjoys attending their state and national conferences. In 2007, she attended Chicago's National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP). Locally, she served 3 years as President and Webmaster for the Fox Valley Music Teachers Association, 2008-2011. In 2010, Joslyn helped pilot FVMTA’s fundraiser for local student music scholarships, “Keys for a Cause,” which raised over $11,000 to assist students struggling to pay for music lessons. In 2011, Joslyn conducted her 3rd (multi-piano) Monster Concert, in which 200+ students, teachers, and parents perform duets, trios, and quartets for the local community. She currently enjoys cultivating a love for music from beginners to adults from her Appleton home piano studio.
