David Lehman, band camp percusion instructor, received a B.A. in instrumental music education from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, and a Master of Music Education from Northern Illinois University. A native of Maple Heights, Ohio, he has taught band for more than thirty-one years in Illinois public schools in Franklin Grove, Fulton, and, for the last thirty years, in DeKalb. In 1997 he received the Wirtz Award for Excellence in Education. In addition to his teaching activities, Dave also maintains a steady performance schedule. He currently plays principal oboe in the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the DeKalb Municipal Band, the Kishwaukee Area Community Band, and the Illinois Valley Community College Wind Ensemble. He also played for many years at Northern Illinois University, performing in the NIU Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and University Band. In 2000, he performed with the Still Pointe Ensemble in its tour to Israel and Rome.
