Interest in singing onstage has never been higher—but how to prepare for auditions to get that coveted role? The proverbial description of the multitalented dancing and singing actor as a triple threat is intimidating—and so is the competition! In our one-week day camp for budding Broadway stars, teachers Carol Jegen and Corrie Kovacs will teach high school students how to make the most of their abilities. We will work individually on several Broadway songs that we will then present in a showcase at the end of the week. We will cover good singing technique, healthy belting, acting the story of the song, bringing the character to life, stage movement appropriate for each song, appropriate styles for different genres and how to pick just the right audition song. Students will have group classes as well as individual coaching. Enrollment limited to 35.
A showcase presented on Friday evening, June 28, is open to all families.
Applicants should include a short resume and at least two songs they are prepared to work on in coaching sessions. It is not mandatory, but suggested that selections be chosen from the Musical Theatre Anthology volumes from Hal Leonard Publications.
