Chamber Music Odyssey is a day camp for motivated string students ages 11-18 looking to broaden their musical experiences by exploring the repertoire and techniques of chamber music literature.
A day at camp includes ensemble coaching with faculty; sight singing; “fingerboard geography,” a hands on approach to music theory for string players; score reading; and a string orchestra rehearsal.
Ensembles are formed based on age, ability, experience and instrumentation to ensure skill-level compatibility. Classes are taught by skilled, inspiring, widely respected teachers in a setting designed to foster musical creativity, self-confidence and the ability to make music with others.
Snacks and lunch at the Warch Campus Center will be provided. Each day will include swim or recreational time at the Buchanan Kiewitt Wellness Center. A final “informance” on Friday afternoon is open to families.
Eligibility:
Chamber Music Odyssey is open to violin students performing at WSMA level A, and viola and cello students performing at WSMA level A or B.
