Interpretations of Bach and Beethoven
Within the realm of classical music Bach and Beethoven are perhaps the two most frequently recorded composers. Because they are so popular, their music has been subjected to a wide range of interpretations, sometimes resulting in astoundingly different pieces. Just how do recordings of the same piece differ? Are they "authentic?" This course will focus on several masterworks of each composer, comparing various recordins to discover how artists shape the pieces through their interpretations of the music. Each class will be held both Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening; participants may attend either meeting. No musical training necessary. If you are interested in Bach and/or Beethoven, please join us!
