The Primo curriculum introduces girls to large group singing. Singers learn choral rehearsal and performance skills, how to read choral music and how to sing as a choir in unison. Singers perform on both the fall and spring Girl Choir concerts in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel.

Girl Choir Auditions


  • Primo March Schedule
    • Monday, March 19 – 4:30-5:30 p.m., rehearsal in Lawrence Chapel (510 E. College Ave, Appleton)
      • Report directly to Shattuck Hall 156. Parking is available on Washington and Park streets.
      • Please pick up your daughter in Shattuck Hall 156 at the end of rehearsal.

    • Friday, March 23 – Dress Rehearsal, 3:45-6:30 p.m. in Lawrence Chapel
      • Report to Shattuck Hall 156 to hand in erased music and put down coat. Then proceed to the Chapel to find assigned seat.
      • Please have a snack before arriving and bring a plastic water bottle to stay hydrated. No food or drink other than water is allowed
      • at rehearsal.
      • This rehearsal is mandatory and closed to parents and public. Girls who are not present may not take part in concerts.
      • No electronics are allowed during rehearsal.
      • Uniform is not required.
      • Choirs are dismissed at 6:30 p.m. Please pick up your daughter in Shattuck Hall 156 at the end of rehearsal. Girls are expected to be present for the full rehearsal.

    • Saturday, March 24 – Concerts, 2 and 7 p.m. in Lawrence Chapel
      • Report to Shattuck Hall 163. Call times are 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
      • No electronics are allowed during the concerts.
      • Flowers will be available to purchase on the steps of the Chapel before the concerts.
      • The concert is approximately 90 minutes in length. Girls may not stay at Lawrence between concerts.
      • The 7:00 p.m. concert will be webcast via the Lawrence University Livestream webpage.

    • Tutti Raffle – please turn in your sold and unsold raffle tickets at the next rehearsal or dress rehearsal.

    • Uniform Return – Primo jumper should be washed and returned to the Academy of Music office, 100 W. Water St. beginning Monday, March 26th. The office is open 8-5:00 p.m. weekdays. A blue bin located under the office window will be available from 5:00-9:00 p.m. for after-hours drop off. Please make sure to write your name on the tag provided.

Choir Materials

  • Girls must bring a three-ring binder and a sharpened pencil to every rehearsal.
  • Music is the property of the Academy.
  • Additional or replacement bags can be purchased through the Academy office at the cost of $10 plus tax.

Concert Uniform

  • A red jumper is provided by the Academy. Jumpers must be returned in good condition at the end of the season. Please do not alter the jumper without permission from the Academy. There will be a fee assessed for the cost to repair or replace a damaged uniform. 
  • Each girl will need to provide her own white, long-sleeved, peter pan collared blouse, white tights, and black, closed toed, flat-heeled dress shoes.
  • Post-style earrings for concerts are acceptable, no hoops.
  • Hair accessories must be small and the color of the hair. Hair must be its natural color. 

Electronics Policy

Cell phones, iPods, electronic readers, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited during ensemble rehearsals and back stage during concerts.   If a family emergency takes place during a rehearsal or concert, please contact the ensemble manager.
