Throughout the year, the Academy of Music presents recitals, concerts, masterclasses, and special events.
Performance represents an essential part of a student's musical growth. Students are urged to take advantage of opportunities to perform and to listen to others perform. Academy performances include departmental recitals, all-student recitals, honors recitals, faculty recitals, masterclasses, "informances" and numerous performances by all our ensembles during the year. Most are free or at very low admission cost and families are strongly encouraged to attend as many as possible.
The Academy of Music presents an Honors Recitals each year in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel. Participants are nominated by their teachers; finalists are chosen by audition, playing before two judges. A reception in their honor immediately follows the recital. The Honors Recital is free and open to the public.
Masterclasses and Guest Artists
Over the course of each academic year, guest teaching artists from other parts of the country visit the Lawrence Academy of Music. Students who study with Academy or Conservatory teachers are nominated to participate for free or at an extremely low cost. Master classes are always free and open to observers and family members.
The institution will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and DPI's Nondiscrimination Provision for all students.
