Martin O'Donnell '08 - Symphonic Band

smiling teacher in blue oxford shirt against white backgroundMartin O’Donnell, Symphonic Band conductor, is a Cleveland, Ohio native and Lawrence University graduate with a degree in instrumental music education. While at Lawrence, he studied trombone performance, orchestral and wind band conducting, brass and trombone ensemble performance, and jazz.

Mr. O'Donnell currently teaches band at Gerritts Middle School in the Kimberly Area School District, where his ensembles consistently receive Superior ratings at Solo Ensemble Festival. In addition to serving as a cooperating teacher for Lawrence University student teachers, he has hosted music education practicum students and rehearsal techniques classes with his middle school bands.  In addition to his work in the schools, Mr. O'Donnell has been the director of the Neenah Community Band since 2010 and is a co-founder, president, treasurer, and guest conductor of VENTO Winds, a professional-level, audition-only adult wind band based in Northeast Wisconsin.

A diverse trombone performer, Mr. O’Donnell has performance experience ranging from orchestral to jazz, dixieland to musical theater. He has performed with over a dozen instrumental ensembles in the Fox Valley, the College Band Directors National Association Honors Band, the Wisconsin National Band Association Collegiate All-Star Band, the United States Navy Band, and over a dozen musical theater performances, where he has also served as Music Director.
