An exhibition of work by twenty-eight painters of the late 19th an dearly 20th centuries from the collection of University of Minnesota Duluth. These paintings represent the unique American characteristics of the Hudson River Valley school, Luminism, Impressionism, and "American Barbizon." Featured artists include William Hart, John Twachtman, R.A. Blakelock, and Childe Hassam.

Gallery Talk: Friday, January 22, 6:00 p.m.
Martin DeWitt, director of the Tweed Museum of Art, will discuss the Tweed's American collection as it relates to each artist's intent and influences.

Opening Reception: Friday, January 22, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.


Workshop: "So You Want to Paint Like an Impressionist," Saturday, February 13, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Wisconsin artist Kristi Roenning will lead this free workshop for the first 25 people to register. Participants will view the exhibition, examine the techniques of Impressionism, and create their own "impressionistic" work of art.
