
The following is a preliminary timeline for the conduct and completion of Lawrence's presidential search.
October 2002The Lawrence University Board of Trustees announces President Richard Warch's intention to retire in June 2004.
The Board of Trustees appoints Trustee Robert Buchanan,'62, chair of the Search Committee and issues a charge to the committee.
January 2003Members of the Search Committee are announced and the committee engages the consulting firm Academic Search of Washington, D.C., to assist with planning the search and the process of identifying candidates for the Lawrence presidency.
April 2003Dr. Barbara Taylor and Dr. Bruce Alton of Academic Search visit campus for a three-day series of sessions coordinated by the Search Committee, to meet with students, faculty, alumni, staff, and community representatives.
Summer 2003The search process formally begins and nomination and submission of candidacies is solicited.
Fall 2003A short list of potential candidates is identified by the Search Committee and preliminary interviews are conducted.
Winter 2004Finalists for the position are brought to campus for formal, in-depth interviews.
Spring 2004It is anticipated that the Board of Trustees will be in a position to announce the college's 15th president.
