To the Lawrence Community:
At the Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees on October 18, Richard Warch announced his intention to retire as president of Lawrence in June 2004. The trustees have known for some time that Rik's remarkable tenure would end before long and had hoped that Lawrence could benefit from his leadership for as many years as possible. In June 2004 President Warch will complete his 25th year at Lawrence's helm, a milestone we will suitably celebrate even as the community bids him farewell.
The trustees will soon embark upon a search for Mr. Warch's successor and develop plans for a smooth and effective transition to new leadership after the 2003-2004 academic year.
