The “Witch’s Hat” is a stone water tower, topped by an observation
deck with a conical roof, constructed in 1914 to serve the Prospect
Park neighborhood in Minneapolis and now serving as a symbol of the place
and its history.
Mary Alice Kopf served on the committee that compiled the book, and it is dedicated
to her “for her devotion to Prospect Park, her innovative ideas, her boundless
enthusiasm, and her tireless energies to make Prospect Park a more livable, more
welcoming, more beautiful place.”
Under the Witch’s Hat received the 2004 Minneapolis Preservation
Award of the
Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and the Minneapolis Chapter of the
American Institute of Architects.
