Features:The new residence hall has four floors of living space in a 79,500-square-foot building with two wings and a spacious central common area. Two stories are visible at grade with lower levels built into the hillside below.
With 183 beds, Hiett Hall is the largest living space on the Lawrence campus. The L-shaped building's 63 living quarters are divided among 10 single rooms (eight of which are occupied by residence life advisors), 33 four-person suites, and 20 two-person suites, each with a shared bathroom and common living space.
The main entrance to the building is on the campus side. This floor contains residential suites, a hall reception area, and a glass-enclosed lounge. The other suites are located on a floor above and two floors below the entry level.
Each floor has a lounge and quiet study room, and three of the four residential floors have common kitchen facilities for student use. The building is air-conditioned and contains a laundry room and general purpose meeting room.
Many suites have a superb view of the Fox River, while others overlook a garden terrace. An attractive courtyard was constructed in the area between Ormsby Hall and the entrance of the new residence hall.
