Conductor and Music Director

One of the outstanding conductors of the German repertoire, Heinz Fricke currently holds the position of music director of the Washington Opera. Born in Halberstadt, Germany, he received his education in Weimar with Hermann Abendroth and in Berlin with Erich Kleiber. He is noted worldwide for his performances of operas by Wagner and Strauss and symphonic repertoire by Beethoven, Brahms, and Bruckner.
