Thursday, October 7, 2004, 11:10 a.m.

Born in Greece, Arianna Huffington graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in economics and was president of the famed debating society, the Cambridge Union. Named one of Washington's most influential commentators by both Newsweek and People, Arianna Huffington writes a syndicated column for newspapers around the country. In 2003, she ran for governor as an Independent in California's recall election. Her new book, Fanatics & Fools: The Game Plan for Winning Back America (April, 2004), is a compelling and humorous analysis of leadership in America and a frank wake-up call for citizens frustrated with politics as usual. She is a frequent guest on television programs, including "Larry King Live," "Crossfire," "Inside Politics," and "The Today Show," and is co-host of "Left, Right & Center," public radio's popular political roundtable.
