Described in The New York Times Magazine as "the most prominent female philosopher in America," Martha Nussbaum is the Ernst Freund Distinguished Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago. Nussbaum has previously served as a research advisor at the United Nations World Institute for Development Economics Research, and has taught at Harvard and Oxford Universities. Intensely interested in social justice, morality, and ethics, Nussbaum's scholarship is influenced by her desire to use philosophy as a way to improve society.
