Guidelines for Using the Music Collections
The music collections are intended as a resource to support music study, teaching, and performance in the conservatory, and they are also available for the entire Lawrence community. By using the collections responsibly in accordance with the guidelines below, you uphold the Lawrence honor code and ensure that the library's music materials are available and accessible equally to all Lawrence faculty, students, and staff.
General
- Return or renew all materials on time. Remember that you may renew a score or compact disc twice.
- Do not reshelve library materials. When you remove scores and recordings from the shelves in the Media Center, leave them on the tables for the student assistants to reshelve.
Scores
- When you check out chamber music, you are responsible for returning all parts. If one or more parts are missing, you will be billed for the entire set.
- Do not write on library scores.
Compact discs
- Return the container insert or booklet with the compact disc. If you fail to return a booklet accompanying a multidisc set such as an opera or oratorio, you will be billed for the entire cost of the set.
- When you return a compact disc case, be sure it contains the disc itself and that the disc is the correct one. Return all discs of a multidisc set.
- Do not leave compact discs in the CD players in the Media Center.
- Do not return compact discs in the book drop outside the main entrance of the library.
Reserves
- Media Center reserve materials are to be used only in the Media Center.
- Please remember to sign out reserve items on the yellow sheet at the service counter.
Remember that by following these guidelines you will help ensure that library materials are available and in usable condition for yourself, your fellow students, and your instructors.
