Media Collections

These collections include over 6,000 videotapes and DVDs, and over 15,000 items in the audio collection including music CDs, audio tapes of Lawrence University events, some spoken recordings, foreign language instructional tapes, and a few computer programs on diskette. Each item is cataloged and can be located through LUCIA, the library's online catalog. Items have varying circulation periods based on format. See the Circulation page for checkout periods.

Video Viewing/Music Listening Rooms

There are five rooms, one room will seat four persons, the other four rooms seat one or two persons. Each room is equipped with a DVD player and monitor, as well as VCR, cassette, and CD players. Turntables are also available in three of the rooms.

Room use is restricted to Lawrence University students, faculty, and staff. A weekly schedule for room use is posted on each door every Monday. You may sign up for only one two and one-half hour session at a time. Academic viewing and listening take priority over recreational use. To gain access to a room, you will need your University ID card.

Music Listening Stations

There are fifteen stations that are available on a first-come first-served basis. Stations are equipped with a variety of audio equipment, including turntables, cassette decks, CD players, and headphones. Several stations have campus computer network access for listening to music reserves.
