Full-text archives of academic journals including the areas of American Studies, geography, and history. Being an archive, it does not contain current issues of the journals, but does contain the entire backfile for the journals.
Newspaper Archive
Operated by Badgerlink, the database contains millions of searchable newspaper pages dating back to the 1700s. The newspaper pages are presented in PDF format that preserves the original context and format of content.

Appleton Public Library
Search the catalog for resources on the lower Fox River. The Status for most of the materials on the Fox River will say "LIB USE ONLY," meaning they can not be checked out and taken out of the library. These materials can be photocopied.
Appleton Post-Crescent Index is also available for searches on the APL's site. Searches can be done from 1853, when the newspaper was founded, to the present. With the exception of issues from the last 3 months, the newspaper is available for viewing on microfilm.
Wisconsin Files at the APL also provides information by topic and include materials on the Fox River.
Fox Valley Memory, Historic Photo Index, and Wisconsin Heritage Online are digital collections available through the APL's site that contain pictures and texts of Appleton and Wisconsin events, people, and places.

The WHS is located in Madison. From their site you can search the Archives Catalog, ArCat that provides records on materials in Wisconsin Archives. The Area Research Center Network provides 13 Area Research Centers in Wisconsin, with each serving a specific geographic region. Records created in and focused on the region served by a particular ARC are housed permanently at the appropriate Center. The ARC for Winnebago County is located at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and the ARC for Brown and Outagamie Counties is located at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Online collections through the WHS include articles from the Wisconsin Magazine of History, historical images, and newspapers from the local history online collection.
