About this collectionIn 1889, Lawrence College built its first residence hall, Ormsby, to house female students. Since that time, the University has constructed many buildings, large and small to provide a place for students to live. Today’s students choose from eight residence halls and sixteen small halls or houses. They can live singly, with one, two or three roommates, or group together with other like-minded students and obtain "Formal Group Housing" status. This digital exhibition commemorates the visual history of seven of the residence halls – Ormsby, Brokaw, Sage, Colman, Plantz, Trever, and Colman. As Hiett Hall's history develops, it too will be included. We hope you enjoy seeing how the halls and the students have changed over the years. In this collection you will find digital versions of photographs found in the University Archives at the Seeley G. Mudd Library. Unfortunately, we do not know who many of the people in the photographs are. If you can identify any of them (and perhaps give us a date for the photograph), please contact us. Be as specific as possible about which photograph you are providing information. Thanks. |
