Artists' Statement:
Stop and smell the roses. Have a seat. Listen to soothing music for a while.

Time is such a precious commodity in the fast-paced world of the 21st century, perhaps especially here at Lawrence University. We're already almost done with second term, and we're wondering where the time has gone. Sometimes we need to simply take a break from our busy schedules and…smell the roses.

We chose to use a couch in our design, because we really want you to relax, and we're hoping that you won't be able to resist the temptation to take a moment to sit down and…smell the roses.

We know that you spend so much of your time in the library, as the hours, days, weeks, terms, and years pass, and so it is appropriate that you stop here, rest here, and smell the roses here…go on, stop…have a seat.
