Current active faculty, staff and students may sponsor a guest access account. The sponsor is responsible for the guest’s use of Lawrence's network, and for ensuring that the guest adheres to the Responsible Use of Information Technologies at Lawrence University policy. The University reserves the right to revoke guest IDs without notice. There are two types of guest access: wireless and a "login account". Guests typically only need one or the other not both.

Wireless Access:

Authorized guests of the University are permitted to use the "LUguest" wireless network for access to the Internet from their personal computer/mobile device while they are visiting campus. Guest access to campus network services is via wireless only, and is limited to those services that are publicly available. Sponsors must provide the following guest's contact information - name, phone number, email address, dates of visit and purpose of visit. To request a guest account you may submit our online form or call the Helpdesk between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 920-832-6570.

Wireless accounts are created for individual guests and are generally for a maximum of three days.

Two other areas can produce a three day guest wireless account on demand, the Library's Reference Desk and the Information Desk at Warch Campus Center. If a longer period of time is needed, or if you need access for a group of people, please contact the Helpdesk at 920-832-6570 or send an email to helpdesk@lawrence.edu.

Guest Wireless Connection Instructions:

  1. From the wireless networks select LUguest as the SSID
  2. Open a web page and you will be redirected to a sign-in page
  3. Login with the provided username and password


"Login Account" Access:

Authorized guests of the University are permitted to use "Login Accounts" upon request. This is a computer account (a username and password) that allows a guest to login on a LU-owned computer. Guest access to campus network services via a "Login Account" is limited to those services that are publicly available. Sponsors must provide Technology Services with the following guest's contact information - name, phone number, email address, dates of visit and purpose of visit. Creating these types of accounts is a manual process and only Technology Services can create them, thus it is suggested that you request these "Login Accounts" at least three days ahead of time. Accounts are created for individual guests and are for a maximum of three days. Tips for Guest Presenters:

Guests bringing personal computers/mobile devices will ONLY be able to use the Lawrence network services (access to the Internet) via a guest wireless account. Technology Services does NOT permit guest personal devices to connect to the Lawrence network via a "wired" connection. Guests wishing to connect computing devices to a projector for the purpose of a presentation may do so. We request that they provide their own video adaptor for VGA connection to the projector.
