Mission Statement
The mission of the Lawrence Academy of Music New
Horizons Music Program is to provide entry points to music making for adults,
including those with no musical experience at all and those who were active in
school music programs, but who have been inactive for a period of time. This music making takes the form of wind and
percussion performance in a band, together with instruction in music fundamentals,
history, and appreciation. The program
endeavors to create stimulating intellectual and physical activities in music
and a strong social interaction within the group. The group aspires to create music to the best of its ability as a
band, to encourage individual achievement on a musical instrument, and to do so
within an environment of mutual respect and support.
