Teaching

At Lawrence, I have taught several physics (and even some non-physics) courses.

Courses

Biological Physics

An upper division course for physicists, biologists and chemists on building quantitative models to understand quantitative biological data (with apologies to Phillips, Kondev and Theriot).
Taught Spring 2011 and Spring 2009.
Sample Syllabus

Advanced Laboratory

In which physics majors learn the practice of experimental physics.
Taught Spring 2011, Spring 2009, and in Winter 2008 with John Brandenberger
Sample Syllabus

Principles of Classical Physics

Second term of calculus-based introductory physics, heavily influenced by Eric Mazur.
Taught Winter, 2011
Sample Syllabus

Optics

Practical optics, with a focus on innovation. Covers such fun skills as use of spatial light modulators and interferrometric metrology, in addition to imaging, beam manipulation, and polarization.
Taught Spring 2010 with Shannon O'Leary. Previous (non-practical) incarnation in Winter 2008.
Sample Syllabus

Electricity and Magnetism

Thank you David Griffiths for Electrodynamics!
Taught Spring 2010, Spring 2008
Sample Syllabus

Freshman Studies

Lawrence University’s hallmark course.
Taught Fall 2009, Fall 2008
Sample Syllabus

Foundations of Physics I

Introductory physics course focused on conceptual understanding, heavily influenced by Eric Mazur.
Taught Fall 2009, Fall 2008, Fall 2007
Sample Syllabus
